Who Can Consign

We accept pieces from individuals looking to sell or rent items from their personal wardrobe. All submissions are reviewed and we reserve the right to accept or decline any item at our discretion. We prioritize quality, condition, and fit with the Vintage Collective aesthetic.

  • Step 1: Submit Your Item

    Get in touch with us at team@vintagecollectivein.com or through our website to express interest in consigning a piece. Depending on the item, we’ll ask you to share photos of the item covering the following:

    • Front and back, full length
    • All labels (brand, size, care instructions)
    • Close-ups of hardware and fastenings, i.e. zippers, buttons, clasps, hooks, lining, if applicable
    • Any visible wear, pilling, staining, repairs, or damage, however minor
    • Close-ups of embellishments, prints, or any detail that affects value
    • We will also ask you to provide: brand, size, approximate age, and original purchase price if known, and to indicate whether you’re open to sale, rental, or both.

    We cover the cost of shipping your item to us. Once your submission is reviewed and conditionally accepted, we’ll arrange a pickup or send you a prepaid shipping label.

  • Step 2: Inspection & Pricing

    When your item arrives, our team will inspect it in person and assess:

    • Condition (relative to your photos)
    • Authenticity where relevant (via 3RD party independent vendors)
    • Market value for sale and/or rental
    • We will then send you a written quote that includes:
    • Estimated sale price (if applicable)
    • Estimated rental price per listing period (if applicable)
    • Our commission rate for sale and/or rental
    • Cleaning cost, if the item requires cleaning before listing
    • You have 7 days to accept or decline the quote.
  • Step 3: Accept or Decline

    If you decline: We will return your item to you at no cost. Shipping back is on us.

    If you accept: We proceed to photograph, list, and promote your item. At this point, the item is formally in consignment with Vintage Collective for the duration of the listing period that is quoted to you.

  • Step 4: Listing & Promotion

    Once accepted, we take care of:

    • Photography
    • Listing on our website (vintagecollectivein.com)
    • Promotion across our social channels (@vintagecollectivein)
    • Items are listed for up to a maximum of 120 days from the date of listing.
  • Step 5a: If Your Item Sells

    When a sale is confirmed:

    • We arrange professional cleaning of your item prior to dispatch. Cleaning costs are deducted from your payout.
    • We ship the item directly to the buyer.
    • You receive your payout within 7 days of the confirmed sale, net of our commission and cleaning costs.
    • Sale Payout: Payout = Sale Price minus VC Commission minus Cleaning Cost
  • Step 5b: If Your Item Rents

    Each time your item is successfully rented:

    • We arrange cleaning after each rental period.
    • We handle all shipping and handling to and from the renter.
    • An administrative fee covering shipping, handling, and cleaning is deducted per rental.
    • Your share of the rental fee, net of our commission and the administrative fee, is paid out to you.
    • Rental Payout (per rental): Payout = Rental Fee minus VC Commission minus Shipping & Handling minus Cleaning Cost
    • Rental payouts are processed within 7 days of the rental period ending.
  • Step 6: If Your Item Doesn’t Sell or Rent

    If your item has not sold or been rented within the 120-day listing period, we will contact you to confirm return. Your item will be returned to you at no cost.

Commission Rates

Our commission rates for sale and rental are determined on a per-item basis and will be clearly stated in your individual quote. Rates may vary based on item category, condition, and pricing. Vintage Collective reserves the right to set and adjust rates at the time of quoting.

Condition Requirements

We accept items in good to excellent condition. We do not accept items that are:

  • Significantly damaged, torn, or stained beyond cleaning
  • Missing labels, fastenings, or structural components
  • Counterfeit or cannot be reasonably authenticated
  • Items that arrive in materially worse condition than the photos submitted may be returned at our discretion, or re-quoted at an adjusted rate.
